I went to Black Hat hoping to slaughter a couple dozen crappie today, but never saw one. I caught four nice, healthy bass and missed four others, all on a black lizard with a blue tail, 1/8 oz TX rig, all close to shore. No bites around any of the brush piles, nor in any of the three aerators that were operating. As reported earlier, the lake is up about 1-2 feet, so the markers for the brush piles are just under the surface. The water looks very good for this lake, visibility about 18 inches. All the bass were stocky and healthy and fought hard.

Did u try jigging the brushpiles for them? Ive caught them on crankbaits by brushpiles in the past but haven’t last couple times been out there. Have caught them on jigs before there
