Our first priority on this new lake was to circle the lake and establish some kind of pattern - determine where and what produces the bite best. We started throwing baits at light enough to see. Heavy rains had the water level up high so the lake is in great shape with a submerged grass on the shallow end.

Shallow water areas proved to produce small fish. Deeper water areas produced bigger fish. A few 4's, a 5 and a 7 1/2 caught on a chatter bait were the larger fish for the day. Lots of 2 and 3's. The lake appears to get little pressure. Culled half a dozen fish. Got hammered for 2 hours by heavy rain storm and wind. Rain gear helped but had to do some serious bailing. No place to hide and get out of the rain once it got on us. Baits that worked: senkos, spinner baits, chatter baits, carolina rigged 8" zoom mag lizards and zoom z craws. Left around 6 pm with more rain clouds looming. Roads getting to the lake look like potential wash out hazards so did not want to take a chance leaving late and getting stuck in the mud with all of the rain going on.
