I fished Kickapoo today, 3/13, with my 7 year old son. We started around 1 and fished til 5:30. I lost count somewhere in the 50's, with 23 bass culled.  Biggest fish was just barely over 3 pounds, but, we caught more fish in the 2-2.5lb range than I had expected. My son landed 12 bass on a beetle spin, all by himself, in addition to helping me reel in several.  I threw 2 baits all day, a chatterbait and a 3.8" Keitech swimbait on a belly weighted hook.  Kickapoo is the perfect lake for a child or a beginner. I expect that we will be back before long.
