Had an enjoyable afternoon 2-27-17 with a friend at Triple Creek Ranch. Water is clear and beautiful tannic color. Picked up a few 16" fish on curly tail grubs early, and a couple of nice crappie on rooster tails. The open water and the edges of the primrose weren't really producing so tried frogs into the holes of the primrose and things got fun real quick! Navigated all the way up the creek arm, had to raise the trolling motor and paddle the boat over the top of the weeds to get through, casting to edges and pockets along the way.

Hooked less than half of the blow-ups, had to train myself to wait to set the hook, I'm used to responding quickly and with the frogs you just pull it out of their mouth if you react too quickly. Didn't take long to adapt and we had a great time with ferocious blow-ups from 2 till 5:30 pm in some very thick cover. Ended the day fishing for crappie and took home 8 nice crappie and 4 bass under 14". Caught another 10 or so bass between us from 2-3 lbs. All the bass had great dark color, very chunky with big shoulders.

Met the owner at sunset, really nice and thanked him for the opportunity. His dogs and chickens greeted us on arrival.

Tight lines…
