...but one of them was an 11-pounder! Woohoo!!!

My wife and I started fishing at dawn. Lake was very still with no breeze. Beautiful morning. Missed a very nice bass on a black buzzbait then caught a 4.5 pounder on a Zara Spook. Then nothing… Fished the whole lake using a variety of topwaters and Senkos. Then about 10 o'clock fishing a Senko, I felt something odd - a slight resistance then my line slowly moved in the water. Set the hook and FISH ON! This old gal filled up my net!

Mechanical scales said 9.5 pounds, digital scales said 10.2 and the TPWD website says a 26 inch largemouth is 11.09 pounds. So I'm going with 10.

She was very healthy with great color and a nice belly. Needless to say, I am thrilled. I was in a bit of a state of shock for a few hours after catching this fish. We fished on until about 11:00 when it warmed up quite a bit then quit. So all in all, Susan had no strikes, I got 4 strikes and landed only 2 fish. Not great numbers. But it was a morning I'll never forget and so happy to have my wife there to enjoy it with me.

Thanks, guys. Now I'm ruined. I'll never want to catch small fish again.

Then again, catching small ones is better than not catching big ones…
