After discovering that Lake Athens was turning over, I nabbed a reservation for Hidden Springs while I was on the water, ran to the ramp, and made my way to Hidden Springs. The fall color was astounding as I launched the boat. Deeply stained water was still 67 degrees. I had read about this place and wanted to visit. The friendly housekeeper met me at the gate, a bit shocked because she thought I was checking in. After explaining my last minute reservation, she showed me the way and checked on me on the water when I came by the lodge.
Most of the fish I caught were dinks, but I did manage a couple of nice fish. What was astounding was the COLOR—both of the fish and the woods at the water's edge. It would have been worth the drive just to see autumn on the water. Great property and wonderful people!
