Wife and I finally made it out to Clarksville Alysha Ranch. Let me preface by stating my last few trips have been froth with issue. Not the clubs, but my personal bad luck or maybe stupidity. I had everything from breaking my favorite rods to splitting our boat trailer in half at the ramp at Rough Creek (longstory but not pretty). Even considered taking a break from fishing for a while. So after a long week in NYC working and not getting home till late Friday night I was less than enthusiastic about the trip on Saturday Morning.
Made the drive and man oh man! The location and entry is nice and the cabin is really cool. Very comfortable and the wife loved the decorations and TV with Satellite. Well furnished and comfortable in every way. Now the fishing on the other hand was Out of control! I did not have my boat (see above trailer incident) so I brought the float tube. The water looks to be about 2-3 feet low and the shoreline was muddy and challenging for water entry so opted for sitting on the edge of the pier and launching myself off the end into the water. Easy in- not so easy out for a fat man in a little tube.
Arrived in water about 2:00p and fished till 6:00p when the storms started. Total fish count in this 4 hours one person was 46 bass. Sunday fished about 6 hours total = 66 bass. Some caught on Senko type soft stick baits and a few on finesse and power worms. Cloudy weather and clear water. Dark colors. The rest on bone colored top water pop-r style baits. Unbelievable explosions on all areas of the lake. At one point even counted 15 bass on 15 cast all in the 2-4 pound range. Never caught anything over 5.5 but didn't even care. Giggling like a little kid, hooting and a hollering all the time. Thanks for this trip Val and PWF. Kinda hated to write this and let the secret out but wanted to share with the great club. Please forgive the length of this report but still excited about the experience!
