My first time to Long Lake. I got to the lake a little before 7 to pouring rain. I launched my float tube and on my second cast, BAM! Big strike on my Whopper Plopper. The fish fought hard; it spun my tube around three times and pulled me around a little. I was surprised it was only 4lbs; it fought bigger. I jumped off a 3lber on the next cast, and then a couple casts later I landed a dink. I was getting a strike every 4-5 casts and I thought it was going to be a banger of a day, but after the first hour it slowed quite a bit. I landed 4 on the Plopper and missed a couple before they shut down. I then went through a variety of different lures trying to find what might work and never really found a pattern. I got one on an underspin, one on a Senko, zero on a plastic craw, etc. I saw a few boils here and there on top  out deeper so I put on a Rattling Rapala and picked off a few more. None were big; mostly 14” and under. Ended the morning with 9 total – 5 decent ones and 4 culls. It rained all morning and unfortunately my waders sprang a leak so I was pretty soaked by the time I wrapped up around 11. On my way out the cows tried to block me in but I was able to slowly inch forward by tapping the horn and get them out of the way.
