Uncle and I were on the water by sunrise. Lake is down at least 6 feet and the canal that connects to the back lake is pretty much dry. The north end of the lake is extremely shallow and thick with vegetation currently. Even with the current conditions, we absolutely crushed them! When we arrived and seeing the current lake conditions I thought that we may be in for a slow day but I was wrong! We caught most of our fish in the southern half of the main lake. Early, we caught them on Pop-Rs just right off of the bank. We were really surprised to see the fish up that shallow but they were there! Once the sun came up and we lost cloud cover (about 10:00)  the bite did slow down a little bit but we were able to keep a steady action of fish coming into the boat. Wacky worm in black and red just right outside the grass line worked very well. We did catch a few out in the middle but most of our catches were either on the bank or right outside the grass line. We caught 50 in total! 34 under 14” that we harvested, and returned 16 over 14”. Both my uncle and I caught one over 4 pounds with the majority of our fish being in the 1.5 to 2lb range.
