Saturday was definitely a slower day by Acker standards, but still a great day compared to most lakes.

We got a little later start than usual and had the chance to meet some other Private Water members from Texas. They had planned to fish Twin Lake but couldn’t because of the lily pads, so they stopped by Acker to see if anyone was fishing. It was great getting to meet some other members before we got started.

My son and I were on the water around 7:00 a.m. It was already warm early and turned into a very hot day, with mostly sunny skies and fairly light wind. By late morning the heat was really setting in, and that seemed to line up with the bite slowing down.

The fishing was pretty steady until around 10:30, then it slowed drastically. We stayed with it until about 1:00 before calling it a day.

We caught fish both in the grass and throughout the timber, with a little topwater action early. Nothing huge this trip, but we had several fish in the 3-pound range and our biggest was around 4 pounds.

We finished with roughly 25 largemouth total. We removed 9 total.

One thing that surprised me was the water temperature. It started around 80 degrees and only climbed to about 83 degrees by the time we left.

Definitely a slower day for Acker, especially once the heat really kicked in, but catching around 25 bass with several quality fish is still a stellar day just about anywhere else.
