My son and I fished Blackbird lake for the first time yesterday.  We started our fishing pads and grass around the edges of the lake, but that only produced a handful of fish.  It didn't take us long to switch gears and start fishing off the grass edges and in more open water.  Mooch minnows and lipless crank baits did the most damage.  I don't think I've ever seen fish built the way these fish are.  They are thick and they fight like crazy.  We caught over 60 fish with our best 5 going 20lbs 5oz.  Only 6 culls, so the average size at this lake is amazing.

We always set goals for our PWF trips.  Yesterdays goals were 20 fish each, 20lb bag and 5lb+ big bass.  We came up a little short on the big bass, but we took home 21 crappie as a consolation prize, so no complaints here.  This lake is fantastic.  As always, big thank you to the landowners and PWF for allowing us to experience these places.
