Lake ia almost full, about 6’-7’ visibility. perfect morning; calm, some surface activity… LOTSA grass. I had a good plan going in and it worked! they bit what i thought they would, where i thought they would. Had 8 in the boat by 10:30 or so. mostly dinks, but still fun. then about 11 the wind started. With a vengeance. Anchor wouldnt hold anywhere and the fish quit biting. one or the other i can tolerate, but both? time to go home. I was off the water with the boat put up by 1, and the wind still ripping whitecaps on the lake. 8 culls + 2 – 16” fish got put back. But i had a ball. Always do.

I love this lake and this ranch. i am so blessed to be able to fish it pretty much whenever i want. I am also sooooooooo grateful to the owners of this ranch to offer it to me/us to fish and to enjoy creation. While i was posting my catch on the roster in the barn, i saw the group before me had a really really good day. Congratulations to them too. 

Most every time i am here something special happens to remind me just how special it is. this time it was a pair of greater canadas calling to each other from opposite sides of the lake. i sat and watched them while i ate my lunch. last time it was a bald eagle hunting the shoreline. Special stuff.
