Fished Salt Lick on 5/3 with PWF Member Mike Nicoloff. Mike and I have exchanged messages and fishing tips the last couple of years, but had never gotten on the water together.
We both arrived at sunrise, air temps in the 50’s and water temp was 68. Lake was full pool and then some from recent rains. Grass ring was solid around the bank.
We worked the lake clockwise and within the first 5 minutes Mike was picking off a school of slab crappie and a few bass with his live scope. Mike and I fished this lake completely different. I stayed in my comfort zone from the banks to the drop offs and Mike fished all over catching shallow and deep. The wind was light in the morning and kicked up around 10am. I was able to use my spot lock to stay close to shore and it paid off with some nice bass off the grassline and Mike caught them off suspended structure a bit deeper.
All in all we caught over 40 bass that day, We both commented it was great to have someone to chat with and bounce ideas off of instead of. Look forward to fishing with Mike again very soon.
Got to see our friend Eric and as always he’s working on making his lakes top notch. He’s in the middle of adding shad to his properties, so keep an eye out for some serious action on his lakes (Salt Lick, Long Lake, Blue Rock).

It was great finally connecting, and couldn’t have asked for a better day on Salt Lick. Nonstop bites within minutes of launching.
