Fished with my buddy and fellow member Mark all day Saturday for our first time at White Bison.  The first half of the day was cloudy starting around 50 degrees and warming up to mid-70’s and partly cloudy in the afternoon.  Barely any breeze at all the whole day.  Water temp was 63-66 degrees and the typical East Texas tea color with maybe 18” viz.  There is no real vegetation to speak of, and between laydowns, sunken trees, and cypress knees along the bank it can be pretty snaggy depending on what you’re throwing.  There was no topwater action at all.  We worked around the shoreline picking up a few here and there on various baits, but no real pattern developed and it became pretty clear they were not in the mood to chase anything moving.  We found fish all over the lake on my electronics, but getting them to respond to anything was pretty tough.  We junk fished all day cycling through moving baits, plastics and trying shallow and deep and would just catch one here and there.  Mark doubled me up 22 to 10 finding most of his fish on a Tx rig worm and lizard as well as an unexpected flurry of afternoon fish on a jerkbait.  My most consistent bait was a black and blue Senko on a neko rig.  We culled 10 out of the 32 bass with several of them right at 14 inches and chunky.  All the fish put up a good fight and were in good shape.  Our “bonus” fish (both on a jerkbait) included my massive bluegill and Mark’s 16” gizzard shad.  Yes, you read that right...16 inches!  I’ve never seen a shad that big!  The bass returned were mostly 2-2.75lbs with the biggest of the day at 3.75lbs.  It was a beautiful day to be out on the water and a really pretty property.  I look forward to coming back to see if we can catch them in a little more agressive mood.  Thanks PWF and landowners for the wonderful addition to the club.
