Drove to the ranch in the rain in the morning. Got to the ranch and the rain stopped. Loaded the boat and proceeded to find some bass. The wind was blowing 14 mph from the south east. So we set up our drifts to use the wind in our favor. We picked up a few on top water and then it shut down. We then found the productive drifts and the hot bait for the day. This great fishing continued all morning long. Took a lunch break at the truck and met the ranch manager. We had a nice conversation.
Launching the club boat was not a problem. We enchanced the boat as I purchased seat brackets and seats for use on club Jon boats. For a 77 year old having a nice seat with a back was a great investment. Some new stone was put down on the ramp and the water seemed to be up a little from the last time we fished. Just west of the ramp there was some deep ruts where a club member sunk his trailer. Anyways back to the fishing. Fish were caught in the deep water on swimbaits ( 3” aku). We caught over 50 bass. The largest was 4+ pounds, a bunch of three pounders and the rest one and two pounders. Every drift we were picking up fish. Then late afternoon the top water bite came back on poppers.
