Nightmare conditions this  morning. High pressure, hot, not a single cloud in the sky, and the water was dead calm.  I dropped the boat in to try and figure them out anyways. The fishable part of the lake was better than last time I was there, with many of the heavier mats broken apart and Lillie's seemed to have receded some. I would estimate an additional 10%-15% of the lake is now accessible. I worked the perimeter with moving baits just to see if they were chasing anything but not really. I figured they had to be down in the vegetation, or clinging to structure.  I switched to a Yamamoto D-Shad and a 3/8oz swim jig and headed back into the previously inaccessible areas to work the mats. Paid off immediately. Caught several working the pockets with the D-shad, then switched to the swimjig to hit the stumps.  First cast dropped right at the base of the biggest stump and was obliterated before it even hit bottom. Weighed in at 5.8 pounds. I caught a few more good fish on the chatterbait once I switched to bluegill pattern. My 2 best fish of the day broke off 🤬. Heartbreakers.  They actually turned on a little around 10:30 and I finished the morning with 27 total bass including 4 culls. I didnt  know if I was going to catch a single fish today, but this is a great little lake.
