Tried out the new PWF property, Tanner Lake, this morning from daybreak to 9:30am.  Fished from my tube, which is great in the summer months.  As in earlier reports, the lake is ½ covered with vegetation, but the remaining part is in great shape.  Not great conditions – no clouds or breeze.  Never found a significant pattern, but caught 11 bass from 1.5# to 3.0#.  No dinks/culls.  I caught fish everywhere, on nearly everything I used – swim bait, wacky worm, chatterbait, frog, lizard, and a Heddon Chugger Spook.  If you’ve never heard of this lure there’s a reason.  It’s from my dad’s tackle box, and it’s probably older than I am, which is old!  Fishing story – I put on the Chugger Spook, and immediately caught 2 nice fish on two casts.  A few casts later, I broke off, and I haven’t broken off on a fish in a long time.  I was devastated to lose the fish and my dad’s lure.  I moped, and fished around the lake again, and came back to the spot where I lost the lure.  Lo and behold there was the Spook, floating where the fish must have dislodged it.  I put it back on, and on the next cast caught the biggest fish of the morning (see picture).  What a blast!  My dad must have been looking down and smiling.
