Reservation Number : 40733
Property Name : Waco Creek Ranch
Reservation Date : 09/24/2024 All Day -
Total Fish/Sizes : 5.1 largest
Lures Used : chatterbait, jigs, Trigs, squarebill

Fished Waco Creek for the second time this year. The grass carp have done their job as there is little grass. The entire lake is fishable. After 21 years as a member and owner of PWF, San Saba Waco Creek ranch maybe still my favorite lake in the club. I have certainly caught more fish (by rod and reel. Not electrofishing) over 6 lbs in this lake than any other. While we (friend and member fished together) did not catch any over 6 lbs, I hung the biggest bass I had ever personally seen at the lake. We were able to fish areas I haven’t been able to access in years. I got shortlined by absoutely monster in the largest creek that feeds this beautiful lake. Saw this fish after he popped off at the boat. 11 lb+ bass if I had to guess.

No topwater action. But slow steady bit all day. We fished from 7:30 to 1:30 and caught 25-30. All but two were over 16 inches and returned. Biggest was 5.1 on a Senko. Could not find a pattern, but the fish were 15 foot off the bank in 8-12 foot of water. Nothing shallow and nothing deep. For those of you who have written the lake off because of grass, Your concerns about too much grass are no more. Threadfin and grass carp were added in 2023 and have done their job. Bass are all 100%+ relative weight. Unfortunately, the lake closes until March 1st 2025 on October 1 2024 for the hunting season. . Be sure to book this place next Spring and Summer.

What a fishing hole, Steve. The only place I never turned a fish and it was with my rig for Texomo stripers and Port Aransas reds. Finished that day in the first spring we had it in 2000 with 6 over 7 lbs. ( some on my Dawia and 8 lb. test. ) The old rustic ranch house ( now burned down ) with deer at play in the early dawn and wild turkeys scampering over the road on the way to the lake. one of many sucessful trips here.  Blue bonnets line the road on the way to the ranch and the lure of wondering if you just might stummble across  the lost mines of San Saba.

I always liked a little vegetation. It's great  to run a waterwing with a split tail grub or an old Bill Plummers frog across or finance a weightless plastic on the edge.

I am getting a little old to use our club boats and mostly bank fish, but just may go back next March during the full moon phase.

Thanks for asking. My son lives in Round Rock and he usually goes with me and my wife. We’ve really enjoyed PWF for the last 25 years. It’s been really great. Will keep you in mind..

Currently 1 foot low. Not sure what it will be in March 2025. But I would expect it completely full. For much of the last few years it's been 4-8 foot low. Not now!
