Must have gotten some heavy rain in Thorndale.  The water at Twin Oaks is about a foot higher than I’ve ever seen it before.  Accordingly, the water visibility was about 6 inches.  Fishing was tough.  I tried just about everything I had in 3.5 hours in the morning, starting at sunrise, with nothing to show for it after an hour and a half except one 2.5 pounder I foul hooked with a rattle trap.  I finally figured out that if I landed right on their head on the edge of the grass with a wacky worm, they’d hit it.  Easier said than done, but I caught 4 more this way, the largest at 3.5 lbs, before leaving at around 10am.  Total of 5 fish between 2 and 3.5 lbs, with no culls.  One of the tougher mornings I’ve spent at Twin Oaks, but I always enjoy my time there.  Maybe the lack of water clarity was the reason for the bite not being on, but who knows.  I’ll be back this summer to check out the theory.
