Fun adventure of camping and fishing Friday night and Saturday morning with my father. We started fishing around 1:30pm Friday afternoon after setting up camp at the great little site they arranged. Caught the first one only a few casts into our trip. We caught most of them on the boat ramp side of the lake and didnt find any fish in the shallow creek. The plastic tx-rigged worm was the top lure of the trip. Dad netted the biggest fish of the trip, a chunky 2.6lb future monster. We called it quits on fishing for the day and tried to get some sleep but the 44-degree night made for a cold snooze. After a nice breakfast and some freshly perked coffee, we hit the water again with renewed vigor. Caught my first ever fish on a white frog only a few casts from the ramp…what an awesome way to start the day. Seeing that 2lb bass smash the lure with such force was a sight to behold. A few moments later, Dad got one on a baby bass-colored Pop-R. We were hoping that the fish were hungry for topwater but the action stopped. Ended up with 10LMB and 1 Perch with only a few culls. Epic lake, awesome trip, and many memories were made this weekend at Waterboo with Dad.
