First trip to this lake... What a beautiful property, especially with the leaves turning. The water contained a significant suspended algae bloom with limited visibility but was brim-full. We started fishing from the bank at about 7:45 am and picked up a cull on a pop R. After launching, we headed towards the dam throwing chatter baits – no luck. We started throwing a Senko and picked up some small fish around the dam. Once we switched to a wacky rig, the bite became more consistent until about 10:30, when it cooled off. We couldn’t find any structure to speak of so we kept throwing toward the bank & the grass, circling the lake, picking up fish on rattletraps and wacky rigs. They seemed to like suspended baits, as we also caught several on a paddle-tail swim bait and a fluke. One of the best fish was caught on a green swim jig with a cowboy trailer. Several were caught just throwing rather randomly around the flat areas in the southern half of the lake. All in all, it was a good day for numbers but we couldn’t coax any fish over 2lbs to bite. Nevertheless, it was a super day to be out at a great property. Oh, and we removed the drain plug in the club boat so the water could drain out but forgot to put it back in. It’s sitting in the boat.
