Became a member of PWF on Tuesday, bought my Pelican Bass Raider 10e Nxt on Friday, fished on Sunday. It was a good week. Me and my 12 year old son made the maiden voyage out on Travis Lake. Closest to the house (only 36 miles), so figured we would work our way out on the Lake list. Took the morning reservation in hopes to catch Rangers playoffs at 3 after catching the sunrise and some bass of course. But after a late start we weren't on the lake until 9am. Only 3 hour fish. But they hit right away near the dock. Probably my second and 10th cast. Got a cull bass and Crappie there. Other reports were right. We circled the lake and were stumped until we got to the submerged fence. As other noted. The fish are there. We caught the other 6 there and had a couple nice hits that got off. I'm sure they were monsters haha. Had a visit from the beautiful white dog as others talked about. He definitely acts like he owns the place.. cause he does. I was personally a bit annoyed at him swimming around the boat at times. But my son loved it. He caught the biggest fish of the day, the only returned bass and told me.... The dog was his favorite part. Kind of put things in perspective for me, to relax and savor every tangle, snag, backlash and even swimming dogs. Cause one day Im gonna miss this. Wonderful father son moment today. Thanks PWF and thank the owner for me. Excited for more fishing adventures. We mostly fished plastics. Nothing hit on worms not without trying... tex rig and wacky rig on 4 different colors. Flukes and brush hogs gave us the best luck. With one on bright spinner. Easy drive across the field to the lake with several clean launch spots. Our boat travels in the truck bed so it was an easy drop and drag to the water.
