After two straight weeks of nearly 100 degree temps, I didn’t have high hopes for fishing.  But, like most trips to PWF lakes, you can get rewarded.

Started at Wildcard at sunrise, 84 degrees and not an oucne of wind.  This lake wasnt open the first time I fished Little A (really nice rock road to lake).  Hooked a nice 1.5lber on my first few casts of a Spook and that was the extent of the topwater bite.  Nothing more on the Spook, frog or popper.  Caught an overly aggressive sunfish (about 5 inches) on a 6 inch jerkbait and a couple more dinks as well.  Part of my trip was to try out the new 6th Sense Boosa shakey worm that just came out.  Tied it on and caught a nice 3.5lber near the overhanging tree directly across the lake from the ramp; super aggressive bite and really hard fight.  Worked the entire rest of the perimeter with a weightless Senko and had multiple little dink taps, but they’re so small I didn’t even want to set the hook.  Finally went to the middle of the lake and tossed a few more lures.  Was getting ready to head over to Little A and had the best fish of the day, I’d estimate 5.5lbs+ whack a weightless Senko (I say estimate as I didn’t bring both tackle boxes into the boat at Wildcard and of course my scale was in the car).  The fish put up an awesome fight on my medium action spinning rod on 10lb test (I normally use it for ned rigs or drop shots).  Total for Wildcard was 6 bass and one sunfish in about an hour and 45 minutes.

Launched over at Little A at 8:30am by that time, the wind had worked up to 10mph+.  I stupidly forgot the depths of Little A and brought my anchor for more shallow properties, so that would make it a challenge.  I caught one right on the weedline by the ramp with a popper and only had one other bite on topwater after that.  Started working the weedlines with the Senko and the Boosa worm and would get one here and there.  When I wanted to fish the center of the lake, I just put down my anchor which would reach bottom and back trolled, so it would give me a good 7-10 minutes to fish before blowing across the lake.  Caught a couple 3 lbers dead center of the lake on the Boosa.  Also caught one cranking along the grassline (and someone elses crankbait – last pic – if it’s yours, send me your address and I’ll mail it to you).  Total catch was 11 at Little A from 1lb – 3lbs.

Good overall day given the heat and as always, a big thanks to Joe for his support of PWF.  Didn’t get to see him this time around, but hope to thank him again next time I am out there!
