My fishing partner and I enjoyed a productive and enjoyable day at Hickory Creek Ranch. 

We arrived a bit late so missed the first hour of the morning bite but were lucky enough to enjoy the second. Morning action on the big lake was on, only slowing down once sun was fully up. Morning session produced a number of fish in the 2-5 lbs range using lipless crank bait, top waters and whacky worms. 

After lunch we went to the small lake which was a very different experience. The fish there were large and aggressive. We started in what turned out to be the only weedless area and made some quick catches with the lipless crank bait. After that the heavy weed cover pretty much meant top waters only, which resulted in a slower bite but great fish. The biggest landed on small pond was 6lbs. 

We finished the day with a few.more on the big pond.

Small pond: 10 +

8 Bass under 14” were harvested making for an enjoyable fry last night ...
