Best portable fish finder

Any thoughts on the best portable fish finder.  I sold my jon boat this spring and utilize club boats, kayak and canoe.  I need something that is somewhat easy to transition from boat to boat (if there is such a device?)

Mike, I use a Lowrance product that is also marketed for ice fishing.  See link below.  I've had it for about a year and a half and have no complaints.  Completely portable.  The battery recharger works great and have never run out of juice in a full day's fishing.  Only trouble i ever had was at Waxahachie.  The plastic boat material was not conducive with the suction cup transducer.  I'm still learning it though.  I bought mine on sale for $200, under a different model number.

Looks like the new model only has the ice fishing transducer.  They sell the boat transducer as an extra optional add on.  I may have attached the wrong link.  Clarify this before buying.

I use the one below.  There's a Velcro strap to bundle the cord.  I just let the transducer float and Velcro the excess cord to a cleat on my Pelica Bass Raider.  I'm able to prop the unit on the front of the boat in such a way that I can see it, and it's relatively safe from falling the the water or floor of the boat.  Depending on your boat, you may need to find a way to secure it.

I bought a "Deeper Sonar" on Costco.com...  I haven't yet tried it, but it's a castable 3.5 ounce spherical shaped transducer that uses your smartphone or tablet as its screen, via an app.  $220, and you can create contour maps and save waypoints, so figured it was worth a shot with Costco's awesome return policy.  I'll add more when I get a chance to test it out.  Castable, can be used from shore or boat mounted too.  Thinking being able to cast it might allow me to not drive the boat over a spot to have a look and spook less fish that way.  deepersonar.com

The Deeper looks interesting.  It's got tons of features.  My concerns are battery life per use, both of the transducer (4 hours, according to a youtube video I saw), as well as of the mobile device, and constant exposure of the mobile device to the elements.  An Otterbox or similar would be almost required if you're going to keep the device constantly in view.  Seems like you could easily spend $400 + if you're going to have a dedicated display device in a good case.

I do like the boat-mount option, quality of display, and customization options.

How are you using yours, Bryan?
