Reservation Number : 20857
Property Name : Lake Leinweber
Reservation Date : 04/05/2019 AM -
Total Fish/Sizes : 25+ (8 over 4 lbs)
Lures Used : Unweighted white fluke

I fished Leinweber on the morning of April 5th with fellow PWF member Rickey King. It was my first time fishing with Rickey and we had a good time.

Rickey caught 16 (culled 10) with a 6.6, 6.1, 5.4, 5.1 and a 4.1. I did not do as well as I caught 12 (culled 9) with my largest a 4.1. Rickey was having his success using a white fluke, unweighted, running it VERY slow along submerged grass beds. I switched to that technique (a little to late) and caught the 4.1 (I lost a good one and several others as they were just nipping at it and the bite was very subtle so it was hard to tell when to set the hook; at least that is my story).

Conditions:

Air temp: mid 60s to mid 70s

Water temp: 67

Clarity: to 3-4 ft

Sky: Mostly clear

Wind: Very light

Unsuccessful lures:

Nothing on topwater (frog, spook, popper)

Rattletrap

Medium diving crank

Weighted senko

Successful lures:

Unweighted white fluke

Shallow diving crank (sexy shad); only caught small ones that I culled

Looking forward to possibly fishing with Rickey again on May 4th.
